Among other fixed stoves, there is an improved stove model called “Malena” (developed by EnDev, Malena stands for Mejor Aprovechamiento de Leña, i.e. better use of firewood). The Malena design reduces the consumption of fuel, wood and animal waste. It has a chimney that expels smoke and toxic gases outside of the house, thus reducing health risks for women and children, who spend more time in the kitchen.

The stove construction strategy is based on the development of local capacities, through technology transfer, capacity-building workshops and training of Energy Promoters (EPs). The installations are permanently monitored to ensure the strategy’s sustainability. For more information, click below on the technology you are interested in.
